Pathonpatham Noottandu (transl. Nineteenth century) is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language action period drama film written and directed by Vinayan. Set in the 19th century Travancore, the story is based on the life of Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, a warrior who fought against social injustices suffered by the lower caste.[3] The film stars Siju Wilson in the lead role, alongside Kayadu Lohar, Anoop Menon, Chemban Vinod Jose, Deepti Sati, Poonam Bajwa, and Senthil Krishna in important roles. The background score was composed by Santhosh Narayanan and songs were composed by M. Jayachandran. Pathonpatham Noottandu was released in theatres on 8 September 2022.

This is the 25th directorial venture of ace director Lal Jose.The film was released on 8 November 2019.[citation needed] The film is inspired from true events. The climax of the film talks about the 2011 Pullu Medu stampede, the tragedy which shocked Kerala.

The story follows film actor Hareendran who wants a driving licence urgently and his ardent fan, Motor Vehicle Inspector Kuruvila Joseph, agrees on delivering it illegally, but their rendezvous does not go well, on the contrary, a feud develops between them that takes a toll on each other's personal and professional lives. Driving Licence was released in India on 20 December 2019 and internationally from 25 December 2019. The film met with a positive response from critics and was a commercial success at the box office.

Mamangam (transl. Festival) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language period action film directed by M. Padmakumar, and produced by Kavya Film Company.[5] Sajeev Pillai was the director in the first schedule, but was replaced by M. Padmakumar. It stars Mammootty in lead role, with Unni Mukundan, Achuthan and Siddique. The film is about the Mamankam festival of the 18th century in the banks of the Bharathappuzha at Tirunavaya, in the Malabar region.[8][9] The film follows Chaaverukal who plot to overthrow the Samoothiri. Songs are composed by M. Jayachandran.[10][11] Originally shot in Malayalam, it was dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and simultaneously released worldwide on 12 December 2019.

Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (Malayalam:Cinema) is a 2009 Malayalam crime drama film written and directed by Ranjith, starring Mammootty, Shwetha Menon and Mythili. It is based on a best selling Malayalam novel of the same name by T. P. Rajeevan, which said the true story of the first recorded murder case in Kerala. Mammooty plays three characters in the film. The film introduced Mythili to the Malayalam film industry. Ranjith also introduced about thirty Malayalam stage artists through this film. The film tells the story of a private detective, who returns to his birthplace, a village called Paleri, to solve a murder mystery that occurred on the same night he was born.

The film won five Kerala State Film Awards including the Best Film Award. Mammootty won his fifth Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for playing three roles Ahmed Haji, Haridas, and Khalid Ahmed in this movie. Shweta Menon also won her first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for this film.

Kerala Cafe is a Malayalam anthology film produced by Ranjith and directed by a team of ten directors including Lal Jose, Shaji Kailas, Anwar Rasheed, Shyamaprasad, B. Unnikrishnan, Revathy, Anjali Menon, M. Padmakumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, and Uday Ananthan. For the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema, one film was conceived by a team of ten directors. Ten cinematographers, musicians, editors, art directors and almost all the top Malayalam film actors (excluding Mohanlal and Jayaram) joined this unique venture.
